Thanks for this article. I have a website for pregnant women and right now I have a client that has to deal with pregnancy. I fear for the baby’s health so I am doing some research of how to help my client the best I can. And this has been very helpful. So again, I desire to thank you sincerely! - fertility

Stress Incontinence is the loss of urine associated with "stress" such as a cough, sneeze, laugh, lifting, bending or exercise. Anything that raises the pressure in your abdomen can stress the bladder and urethra. If the urethral closure mechanism is not strong enough...urine leaks out. Some women will do Kegel exercises to strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor surrounding the bladder and urethra, others will use weighted vaginal cones to increase the efficacy and feedback for this exercise. Lastly there are some devices that use electrical or magnetic waves to directly stimulate the muscles. Sometimes, despite a woman's best efforts, exercise is not enough. This is often due to weakness of the connective tissues and ligaments that normally hold the bladder and urethra in place. In these instances medical/surgical treatments are often beneficial.
